Dear Industry Colleagues,

I am proud to inform you that a group of members of the Pacific Water Quality Association (PWQA) has decided to support the Foundation during their 2012 Fishing Fools Fishing tournament. The tournament is held yearly after the PWQA annual convention as a way for long-time members to bond and exchange fishing stories, as well as to discuss business opportunities.

Mike Baird, organizer of the tournament, announced earlier in the summer that part of the proceeds collected from the tournament will go to support the efforts of the Foundation. Kurt Peterson of Water Conditioning & Purification International (WC&P) magazine, Director and long-time supporter of the Foundation, and Guillermo Guzman, Founder, will be attending the Fishing Fools Fishing Tournament 2012, which will start Friday, October 12 and run through Sunday, October 14. Leaving from San Diego, CA, the anglers will fish for two solid days, with prizes for the most fish and biggest fish, amongst others.

“There has been no commitment from the tournament organizers as to the amount of money to be donated to the Foundation; however, in my view, the amount is irrelevant compared to the value of the awareness these great bunch of guys are creating and bringing to the table. I am looking forward to the tournament and should I be so lucky to win a prize, it will be donated to the Foundation,” said Guzman.

Florida-based Cyriacks Environmental Consulting Services (CECOS), a Platinum sponsor and early supporter of the Foundation since its inception, has pledged to match dollar for dollar, up to $2,500 (USD), all donations received from the water treatment industry through October 31. “We believe in the mission of WWIF and invite the industry to exercise their corporate social responsibility,” said company President Wendy Cyriacks. “We know times are tough for many companies; however, times are tougher for those the Foundation is reaching out to and trying to help. It does not matter how large or small the donation is; every little bit helps and we will match it,” added Cyriacks.

The funds will go towards completing the Foundation’s most recent projects, San Jose de Ulloa, Dominican Republic and Bagliga, Ghana.
