In late November 2010 WWIF visited the Township of Wallacedene in Cape Town, South Africa. WWIF founder Guillermo Guzman and Tony Marchesini of H2O International South Africa met with leaders of the Township to discuss WWIF’s involvement in the community. WWIF sent a batch of Hydraid® Biosand filters to run several pilot operations in rural areas in South Africa. The filters were shipped aboard a US Navy ship under Project Handclasp, a humanitarian project designed to reach areas in need of supplies and aid from US companies. WWIF commits to the relief for the earthquake – tsunami victims in Japan along with Cascade Engineering, US Navy Project Handclasp and other organizations.
